Beginning on Saturday 3rd December, 9.00 at the Leisure Centre

Have you been thinking about doing a half-marathon, perhaps for the first time,
and would like support and training from the club? Can you run 6 miles at
your own pace? Then this group can help you make the next step in your running
development.

If you are planning to run the Bideford half-marathon or the Great West half-marathon, this training will fit in with your plans.

Experienced runners will be catered for too.

Don’t forget the new beginners daytime group!

A new group started On Monday 3rd October at 9.30am from Lord’s Meadow Leisure Centre. £1 per session plus free membership of CRN.

Crediton Running network launched

Crediton Running Network officially launched on Saturday 16 July at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre. Over 50 people turned out for a run followed by coffee and cake afterwards at the leisure centre. Three runs of 2, 4 or six miles took place in the surrounding areas, including Shobrooke and other off-road routes. Local marathon runner Ian Webber was guest of honour, opening the club officially at 11.30am with an inspiring speech describing his own journey from someone not interested in sports to his present standing as a multi-marathon runner, who also fundraises tens of thousands of pounds for several local charities.

Mayor Frank Letch started the races, and the proceedings were also attended by several councillors and some of CRNs most significant and early sponsors. The leisure centre was well represented and the manager gave a very encouraging speech on the value of the club to the local area and how well the committee had done to get it set up so quickly.

It was a tremendous start to the club, and membership was significantly up with many people joining on the day.

Summer Series run in Crediton 11th July

The summer series continued at Sandford Cricket Club on July 11th, with many people attending this popular women-only event.

New running group

A new running group started on Saturday 23rd July at 9.00am, at a moderate/gentle pace, around 4 miles, aimed at people who have outgrown beginners/returners groups but are not ready for 5 or 6 mile runs in the more established or intermediate groups. A nice way to start the weekend with a sociable and not at all competitive run. Contact Russ Evans at rk.evans@btinternet.com or phone 01363 775336. Meet at Lord’s Meadow Leisure Centre.

Social run in Bow, 18th June

Over 25 people turned out on a wet and blustery morning for a CRN charity fundraising run starting from Bow. The event was hosted by Clare Selley, in aid of her charity Balloons which offers help to bereaved children, young people and their families in Devon. Click here to find out more about Balloons and how you can contribute.

Two routes were on offer — 3 miles or 6 — but both were subjected to torrential downpours, none of which dampened the spirits of what was a good-natured and sociable run. Many thanks to Peter and Clare Selley for hosting the event.

Look out for details of the next charity social run.
